Why we created this retreat

What inspired us to host this retreat

The Deepest Retreat was born out of the calling to share those medicines (freediving, and sacred plant medicines) that we deeply honour, and that have personally changed our lives.

The combination of the effect of freediving on one's mental and emotional health, as well as the healing powers of the sacred medicines, is a powerful cocktail.

The Deepest Retreat is also inspired by our devotion to water: the healing powers of the sacred waters, and how they invite us to our re-birth.

We created The Deepest Retreat in response to the main requests we receive from our clients:

How to connect with my body, and learn how to trust? How to activate and feel my heart? How to feel my emotions, and release them? How to really change my patterns, and let go of addictions? How to instill a feeling of  wholeness and abundance, and let go of worry and scarcity? How to sit with the sacred plants to feel more connected to nature? How to invite more love, inspiration, joy, and peace into my life?

The Deepest Retreat is our answer.

Mexico is a strong healing vortex, and the jungle nature, coupled with the breath-taking cenotes, is the ideal setting for transformation.

All of our retreats are designed specifically to break through the armour of the entrepreneurs, who might over-identify with their professional selves, and might have focused more attention on their performance and success, than their happiness, health, and wellbeing. Our approach takes into account the resistance that this armour brings, and gently but firmly invites openness and acceptance.

Working with water

The theme of this retreat is water.

This speaks to the sacred waters of the cenotes and our oceans, as well as the inner waters of our emotions.

It includes, swimming in water, freediving in water, water blessing rituals, cleansing the waters of our emotions with sacred medicines, as well as contributing to solutions to cleanse the waters of Yucatan.

Water composes over 60% of the human body, and encompass more than 70% of the Earth's surface. We believe that water is a key theme to unlock regeneration inside ourselves and in the world around us.

By working with water, we hope to create an embodied experience of the profound interconnectedness that unites us all.

My personal freediving experience

Freediving in the cenotes has been a life-changing experience.

For the Mayans the cenotes were sacred, representing duality, life and death - an entry to the underworld Xibalbá. Interconnected through hundreds of kilometers of tunnels; the roads of the underworld.

I’ve had a few experiences over the years freediving in South Africa and Bali, yet the cenotes made me really understand what freediving is about.

While freediving in the cenotes, I unlocked something that was locked. I had to open a door I didn't want to open. It was about trust. Trusting my body to give me the right signals, to do exactly what it’s supposed to do, to keep me safe.

To then finally arrive at a state of surrender. Just feeling.

The feeling of going down the line, and then turning on your back at the lowest point, floating while looking up to the body of water above you. Enjoying it. Trusting that you have more than enough air to make it up again.

Body full of light. Full presence. Taking in the incredible beauty of the rocks around you, the oval shape of the cenote above the water, and the absolute stillness. Tingling sensations in your body. Bliss.

Two of my freediving buddies from Italy and Austria arrived with years of depression. Within two days of freediving, both of them released their blockages, and found so much strength and faith within themselves, that their depression disappeared and hasn't returned since.

For me personally, it instilled such a deep trust within my body and myself, that I hoped to be able to share this magical transformational practice through Oyasin one day.

I'm honoured that that day has arrived now.

With all my love,

Mo
Founder at Oyasin

Freediving

During this retreat, we will  learn to freedive in the cenotes with a local freediving expert.

Freediving is the art of holding your breath while descending to depth. It is known to be an incredibly powerful medicine to build trust in the body, to learn to fully surrender, and to still the mind.

The cenotes are water wells, and the Mayans believed them to be the gateway to the underworld Xibalba.

Sacred Cactus Ceremony

The Mara'akames - the sacred cactus - are coming from the desert in Mexico to the jungle of Yucatan to work with Oyasin.

This is a rare and special occasion, and we are incredibly honoured that we can help them spread the work of the abuelo; 'the medicine of love'.

They have picked the medicine from the desert by hand, and will come here to support us on our healing journeys.

Many people have expressed that they've experienced their deepest healing on the medicine of the sacred cactus.

Beyond the medicine of the sacred cactus, we will also guide a ceremony with the sacred mushrooms & emotional release, to release stuck emotions and trauma from the body, to heal and harmonize our nervous system.

What our clients say

I found my life.

After 40 years on this planet, I had the most meaningful and deepest experience of my life during Oyasin Retreat.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Mo & team.

Zeineb C.
40, Entrepreneur, UK

The Oyasin retreat helped me to feel again. To connect to my own medicine within, which I had forgotten to connect to. As a woman in business, I’m always ‘in action’, productive, busy, and often (or always) in my head.

I have experienced Mo, Luna and Lina as modern-day priestesses, each of them with their own way of holding space, inspiring, praying, and making music. I'm so grateful for these three courageous and sensitive women, for being so humble and authentic, for embracing us every time we needed them, for teaching us how to walk the path of truth and transformation.

With Mo’s guidance I had very deep experiences during the Mayan cacao and the mushroom ceremonies, and I could fully let go and surrender, shed many tears, and saw the truth of everything. It was the whole Oyasin process with the preparation and integration sessions before and after though, that made this retreat so impactful to me.

Words can’t describe what my heart (re)learned!

It’s been one month since the retreat, and I feel more peaceful than ever. It feels as if I have access to much more love: I feel grateful for my family, and for my life. My sons tell me how relaxed I now am, and they love how playful I am with them. Thank you so much for everything.

Oyasin Expansion: Testimonials

"It was probably the most authentic plant medicine experience I've ever encountered.

It was my first time with Oyasin, and it's been indescribable to sit with mara'akames from the desert in Mexico.

The loving space held by Mo and team, the quality of the healing modalities; there was an incredible flow to it.

It was an Oyasin Sacred Cactus Ceremony retreats for CEOs, and yet it felt like family; we all became brothers and sisters.

We were visited by 5 deers during ceremony! The deer is the spirit animal of the medicine we sat with.

It's truly been a once in a lifetime experience for me."

Sacred Medicine, Cacao & more

Preparation

Our retreats are profound transformation processes that start with a thorough preparation. Beyond a health screening, there's 1-on-1 coaching to make sure you're fully prepared, diet guidance, as well as group preparation.

Moreover we also get introduced to the techniques of freediving.

_MG_3526.jpg

Sacred medicine

The sacred medicine or 'maestros' (teachers) from the mountains in Oaxaca, the birthplace of Maria Sabina, invite us to explore deep truths, and release trauma and tension. We work with bodywork and emotional release techniques: in order to heal the nervous system, and restoring it back to its most harmonious state.

Dora+Resort+Temazcal.jpg

Temazcal

The sweatlodge serves as a womb: those who enter are going through a profound re-birth ritual in the dark, guided by the 4 gates, aligning to the different elements

_MG_3896.jpg

Mayan Cacao & Breathwork

The Mayan cacao ceremony - held with the permission of a family of curanderas in Guatemala.

Our ceremonies are profound journeys into the heart, and combined with breathwork the journeys expands our conciousness beyond limitations.

The cacao ceremony is also a perfect way to integrate experiences.

9261e67073b686daa7e020c8451847c6.jpg

Nature rituals

Nature time helps us to integrate and prepare for powerful experiences.

We honour mother earth, and the water of the cenotes with blessings.

We also spend time just enjoying nature, to reflect, play, and be inspired.

_DSC5788.jpg

Integration

Integration is a vital part of the transformation process. Throughout the retreat, we have plenty of opportunity to integrate our insights, in sharing circles and 1-on-1 sessions. After the retreat we gather online for group integration sessions.

_DSC5275.jpg

Integrating Transformation

Beyond the many medicines we share in this retreat is special in another way as well: it brings together Western leaders with a large influence in their communities through the enterprises that they lead. After opening our hearts during the retreat, we will dedicate the new version of ourselves to creating the world of the future in the integration process with a 'vision workshop'.

In preparation for the retreat, and during the retreat, the intention is to drop from the frenetic chatter of our minds into the compassionate wisdom of our hearts. It is in this place where we find clarity, peace and the deepest healing. It is also the place from which we can lead ‘above the line’ as Jim Dethmer describes in his book “The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership”

Once we return to our families and companies though, all these bright minds can co-create and contribute to the cleanliness and accessibility of water in the vision workshop.

Even though plant medicine is an important element of our retreats, it's more than 'just' a plant medicine retreat: it's a journey of self-love, designed to create lasting transformation.

Each of us deserves a life of purpose, joy, authentic leadership, and loving relationships. While there is no miracle cure, with the right focus, guidance, and integration, extraordinary transformation is possible. We have witnessed profound breakthroughs that still give us goose bumps, and put a smile on our faces.

_DSC5788.jpg

Exclusive Experience

Our retreats are exclusive not only in the sense of beautiful locations and accommodation but rather because we choose to run only a limited number of highly specialized retreats per year. This antidote to the mass approach enables us to dedicate most of our time to ensure the quality and impact of our journeys.

The entire process includes the pre-retreat coaching, psychological screening, the 7-day retreat, and the post-retreat integration coaching.

Our retreats are open to approximately 12 participants, because we believe that deep healing and transformation happens in intimate settings, with focused one-on-one support during the preparation and integration.

We work with highly experienced guides for a group of 12 people, to create the safest, and most loving environment for you. This number is the 'sweet spot' for sacred cactus ceremonies: to have a large enough group to sit around the fire with collective healing energy, and small enough to be intimate.

Oyasin Expansion: Meet the Team

Meet our team

For each retreat, we select our team of experts - mara'akames, ayahuasceros, huachumeros, medicine guides, musicians and mentors - to guide the experience in the best way.

Beyond their extensive experience of often decades, they're also selected based upon their authentic energy and loving personality.

Mara'akames from Huichol

SACRED CACTUS GUIDES

For the past three years we've had the honour to work with the Mara'akames. They are sacred cactus guides from the Huichol tribe in Northern Mexico.

The mara'akames are born into their vocation: identified at birth, they often start guiding when they are less than 10 years old.

Their connection with the medicine is part of their daily lives; they are some of the most powerful guides we have worked with.

They have guided at Oyasin retreats in Mexico, and came to Portugal to guide ceremonies with us.

We are very grateful to welcome them in our Oyasin Awakening Retreat.

Donation to Oyasin Foundation

Cozumel Coral Restoration Program

R.jpg

Since our Oyasin Awakening Retreat is fully dedicated to water, we donate EUR 75 for each participant to the "Coral Restoration Program " in Cozumel, a project that restores the coral at the reef at Cozumel island (close to Tulum). The organization grows baby coral in aquariums, and plants them back in the reef.

Coral reefs are vital for marine life. Coral reefs are some of the most diverse and valuable ecosystems on Earth. Home to over 4,000 species of fish, corals, and other marine life, coral reefs cover only 1% of the world’s oceans, but provide habitat for at least 25% of the world’s marine life, with many reef species still to be discovered.

Oyasin Foundation is a non-profit through which we support projects that protect & advance indigenous cultures, nature, as well as the sacred medicines.

The Oyasin Foundation is an expression of our gratitude to pachamama and her medicines.

100% of our revenue goes to the projects.

If you feel connected to this cause, you are so welcome to make a donation beyond the EUR 75 that we donate for you.

For each retreat, we offer the following three packages below.

What to bring

Comfortable loose-fitting clothes, natural fabric. It's generally hot during the day, so best to bring cool clothes of light fabric and colours, long pants of thin fabric, shirt with long sleeves of thin fabric. At night it gets cooler, so bring a sweater, and a poncho. We will also be sitting around the fire at night. Bring strong mosquito repellent as there are mosquitos and insects, sunscreen, a sun hat. Also bring yoga clothes, your swimming costume, water bottle, any objects of worship (stones, oils, candles, incense) that bring you comfort, and any music instruments.

Also, please bring a gift for the gifting ceremony as we will work with detachment. This will be explained in the preparation sessions.

How to get there

Please book your flight to arrive at Cancun Airport. Cancun has easy and affordable connections from anywhere in the world, especially if you book in advance. From Cancun it's a 2.5h drive to the retreat center, which is in the jungle outside Tulum. We can arrange a pick-up for you to the retreat center. You can easily rent a car as well. Another option is to take a bus from Cancun airport, and in 2.5 hours you are just outside the retreat center.

We will share the exact location in the private Telegram group for the retreat. Here you will also meet the other participants for carpooling options.

Additional stay

9261e67073b686daa7e020c8451847c6.jpg

We always recommend to spend a day or two in the area close to the retreat if you have that possibility (as the retreat center is fully booked) prior to the retreat, to connect with yourself, with nature, and to get into the right headspace. If time allows, it's highly recommended you take a few days after the retreat, to integrate, enjoy the ocean and the cenotes, and simply to enjoy.
